Travel Stockings
The very best way to get accurate fitting stockings is by being measured by the Perometer. This is a very specialised machine that has been made to obtain a 3D model of the leg in seconds. Standing with one leg in the "ring" at a time, the "ring" is moved up and down the leg - and the computer measures the leg precisely and builds a 3D model.
Unfortunately there are not many Perometers in the UK. If you are unable to travel to our clinic in Guildford for full measurement, then you can use the information below to get as good a fit as you can. We use Daylong which can be purchased online.
Graduated pressure stockings for travel, only need to be below knee to have their full effect. However, to get the best benefit they must be made by a recognised manufacturer of Medical Hosiery, and must be measured correctly.
We prefer to measure patients ourselves to insure that the fitting is correct. However, if you are unable to get to our clinic for measurement but wish to purchase such stockings, please use the diagrams on this page.
Measuring your legs for Travel Stockings.
1] Measure around your ankle at the thinnest point just above the bony points at the ankle - take the measurements down in centimeters.
2] Measure from the knee crease behind the knee down to the heel/floor when your foot is on the ground normally - take the measurements down in centimeters.
